D.E.S.K. Donates More Than $67,000 for School Supplies for San Angelo ISD Students

For more than two decades, D.E.S.K. (Donate Educational Supplies to Kids) has helped ensure San Angelo ISD students have the school supplies they need to succeed in the classroom. This year, the organization continued that mission by donating $67,064.97 to support students and families across the district.

The funds were presented to San Angelo ISD in July and distributed to campuses based on student need, helping ensure schools have the resources to assist families who may need extra support purchasing school supplies.

For more than 20 years, D.E.S.K. has worked year-round alongside community partners to remove barriers to learning by raising funds for school supplies. The organization hosts several annual fundraisers, including a golf tournament, online silent auction, participation in San Angelo Gives and school supply drives each fall. D.E.S.K. also receives support through grants and generous donations from local businesses, churches, organizations and community members.

According to D.E.S.K. President Vicki Loso, the organization's mission is deeply rooted in a shared commitment to education and supporting students. She said the organization recognizes that many teachers regularly spend their own money on classroom supplies and that helping provide those essential items eases the burden on both educators and families. By ensuring students have the tools they need to learn, D.E.S.K. helps remove one more obstacle so children can begin the school year ready to succeed.

Community partners supporting D.E.S.K.'s mission include McDonald's, 1st Community Federal Credit Union, Dr Pepper, Sam's Club, KLST, Key Club International, San Angelo Standard-Times and Townsquare Media.

About D.E.S.K.

Founded in 2004 by San Angelo businessman Eric Wilson, D.E.S.K. was created after Mr. Wilson recognized a need to help San Angelo ISD students whose families struggled to purchase school supplies. He assembled a board of community members dedicated to ensuring every student has access to the materials needed for a successful school year.

Since its founding, D.E.S.K. has raised more than $1 million to support San Angelo ISD students. Each year, the organization's efforts help relieve financial stress for families while also reducing the need for teachers to purchase classroom supplies with their own money.

San Angelo ISD extends its heartfelt appreciation to D.E.S.K.'s dedicated board members, volunteers, donors and community partners for their unwavering commitment to SAISD students and families. Their generosity and years of service have helped remove barriers to learning, ensuring thousands of students have the supplies they need to begin each school year prepared, confident and ready to learn. Together, they continue to make a lasting difference in the lives of San Angelo ISD students.
